Dartmouth College. The Natural History Society.
The Natural History Society was founded in April, 1840, to "form a collection in all the departments of Natual History" and to "promote the study of Natural History among its members." The minutes final entry describes a report from the curators, "lamenting the selfishness of members in reserving their best specimens for their own amusement."
