Worcester Business Exchange.

Hide Profile

The Worcester Business Exchange was formed in December 1873 by a group of Worcester businessmen "to promote the business interests of the city [and] ... to cultivate a more intimate and friendly acquaintance" among local businessmen. In November 1874 the name was changed to the Worcester Board of Trade, which was incorporated in 1875. The organization was actually a forerunner of the Chamber of Commerce. The Board had an active membership until 1878, then remained dormant until 1891, when its charter was revived by a new organization called the Board of Trade or Chamber of Commerce.
