Woodcock, Harry Edwin, 1816-1911
The Rev. Harry Edwin Woodcock, the third child of David and Patty (Osgood) Woodcock, was born in Swanzey, New Hampshire in 1816. He graduated from Oberlin College in 1845, from the Oberlin Theological Seminary in 1848, and was ordained the same year to the Congregational ministry. He held pastorates in western New York and established a church in Tonganoxie, Kansas (1868) before moving to Kansas City, Missouri in 1886. There, he founded the Metropolitan Tabernacle and Institute, serving as its pastor from 1889 until his retirement. Woodcock died at the age of 93 in 1911.
