William Starr Basinger (1827-1910), was born on August 26, 1827 He was a lawyer, Savannah City Alderman and a major in the Savannah Volunteer Guards during the Civil War. Basinger married Margaret Garnett (1843-1932). They had four children: Elizabeth, William Starr, Jr., Leslie, and Thomas Garnett. William died April 25, 1910.
