Grimke family.
South Carolina family. John Faucheraud Grimke (1752-1819) was the son of John Paul Grimke (1713-1791), a jeweler and silversmith of Charleston (S.C.). John F. Grimke served as an officer of the S.C. Artillery Regiment during the Revolutionary War and was later a state legislator and judge. His children included Thomas S. Grimke (1786-1834) and Henry Grimke (1801-1852), father of Edward Montague Grimke (1832-1895).
