Founded by Dr. H. S. Davis and Professor C. L. Willoughby, the Florida Scientific Club was open to officers and faculty of the University of Florida. Discussion at monthly meetings concerned recent developments in the fields of biological and chemical sciences. Discussion topics included how to cope with the boll weevil and plant diseases, and the effects of fertilizer, etc. Other club names included the Florida Scientific Association and the Florida Academy of Sciences.
