Variant namesBorn in Henderson, Jefferson County, N.Y.; educated at Cornell University; moved to Buffalo in 1878. Appointed by Gov. Grover Cleveland as pardon and extradition clerk in the governor's office. Served as a Democratic member of the State Commission on Lunacy from 1889 to 1899, when he retired to Yonkers, N.Y.
