The City of Birmingham, a passenger ship built for the Ocean Steamship Company of Savannah, Georgia and was first launched in August 1923. The ship was equipped with the latest amenities of the time for the handling of freight and for the accommodation of passengers along the Atlantic coastline from Savannah, Georgia to New York, New York. The City of Birmingham had the capacity for 164 first class passengers and 40 second class passengers.
