Virtue, Charles F. Sawhill.
Charles F. Sawhill Virtue grew up in Iberia, Ohio. He received his B.A. degree at the University of Cincinnati in 1925 and his Ph.D. degree at Yale University in 1933. He taught at the University of Idaho and at the University of Louisville before being named an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Maine in 1946. He later became head of the department of philosophy.
