Moreland, William E.
Dr. William E. Moreland served as superintendent of the Houston Independent School District from 1945 until 1957. Dr. Moreland began his career in HISD in 1925, serving as assistant to superintendent E. E. Oberholtzer. Moreland also served as principal, personnel director, and deputy superintendent before accepting the position of superintendent in 1945. Throughout his years as superintendent, Dr. Moreland initiated expansion programs dealing in all aspects of education.
