Prominent Geauga County, Ohio pioneer. He was the first permanent settler in Newbury Township in 1808, operated a grist mill and distillery in association with Eleazer Hickox, maintained a farm and saw mill, and served as a land agent in the area.

Lemuel Swift Punderson was an engraver who worked in New York City from 1850-1855. He moved to New Haven in 1855 where he established an engraving business. In 1860 he became partners with Emil Crisand and they formed the firm Punderson & Crisand, Engravers, Lithographers and Printers. Punderson was also the author, along with John Warner Barber, of History and Antiquities of New Haven (1870) and City Guide to New Haven (1860).

Lemuel Punderson's death date is unknown but he is listed in the New Haven City Directory until 1903.
