Absolom Hallock (1826-1892) was a mechanic, draftsman, civil engineer and surveyor.

Hallock was born in Utica, N.Y., and was trained as a cabinet maker, draftsman, surveyor, and civil engineer. He came to Oregon in 1849, settled first in Oregon City and then in Portland. He was one of Portland's earliest contractors.

Absolom Hallock (1826-1892) was a mechanic, draftsman, civil engineer and surveyor.

He built numerous buildings in Portland, Oregon and served on the Portland Common Council as chief of the Fire Department. In 1874 he moved to the Tillamook area where he became the first postmaster of the Barnegat post office in Tillamook County.
