Albert H. Harding came to Portland, Oregon in 1888 and was prominent in its development in religious, cultural, educational and business affairs. He was involved with the Congregational Church in Oregon, Pacific University, and the Parkrose Association Board, and established Portland Securities, an insurance, mortgage and real estate business. He married Adelaide Poppleton, a graduate of Pacific University, in 1895. Their daughter Grace succeeded to her father's interests in the Congregational Church and Portland Securities. Their daughter Ruth married Joe Demmery of Seattle in 1925.
