Stambolian, George.
George Stambolian (1938-1991), writer, editor, and college professor was an important figure in the gay literary world of the 1980s. He edited the highly acclaimed anthologies MEN ON MEN: BEST NEW GAY FICTION (1986; 1988; 1990; 1992) and wrote frequently for CHRISTOPHER STREET and the NEW YORK NATIVE. Stambolian taught in the French Department of Wellesley College fom 1966 to 1991. His academic works include MARCEL PROUST AND THE CREATIVE ENCOUNTER (1972), TWENTIETH CENTURY FRENCH FICTION: ESSAYS FOR GERMAINE BREE (1975), and HOMOSEXUALITIES AND FRENCH LITERATURE (1979).
