The Owego Mining Company operated out primarily on two lodes in the hills outside of Georgetown, Colorado: the Owego lode and the Brick Pomeroy Lode, and this collection consists of the papers of the company's secretary, and ticket agent at Grand Union Station in Denver for the Denver & Rio Grande and Atchison, Topeka, & Sante Fe Railroads, Sidney A. Shepperd (also spelled Shepard and Sheppard in various documents in the collection).The two items of Shepperd's personal correspondence in the collection indicate that he was also a member of the Colorado National Guard and the Grand Army of the Republic (a fraternal organization for Union Civil War veterans).
