The Young Democratic Caucus of Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire was founded as a student organization in 1978. According to the organization's first constitution, it was founded "to create an active interest and awareness in the government ... ; to foster new ideas to benefit the people of the nation; to make public interest and awareness in the government grow; and ... provide justice and promote the ideas that have always been the basis of the Democratic Party." The organization was also known as the Young Democrats and maintained ties to the Democratic Parties of Wisconsin and Eau Claire County.
