Born in Maldon, Essex, England. Baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), 1851. Served as a local missionary in England, 1851-1856. Emigrated to America, 1856, and to Utah, 1861. Bishop of the Ogden 1st Ward, 1883-1887, and Ogden 4th Ward, 1887-1899.
