Houchins, Kenyon, 1915-1983

Kenyon Houchins was born in Hallettsville, Texas on July 31, 1915. He graduated from South Texas School of Law in 1939. In the early 1950’s, Houchins began his career as legal attorney in Houston with lawyer Percy Foreman, at 1116 Capital Avenue. By 1955 he had moved his services to 1207 Welch Avenue and by the 1960’s began a longstanding partnership with Lonalee H. Tasker. Houchins and Tasker remained a well-known and respected law firm through the 1970’s. Houchins on many occasions also served as a precinct judge, and was actively involved in business ventures such as The Lanark Corporation and the Texas Oaklawn Corporation in the 1950’s, and Van’s Food Products in the 1970’s. Kenyon Houchins died on June 2, 1983.
