Eleanor Murray Watkins was born in Tingley, Iowa in 1903 and received both B.S. and M.S. degrees in bacteriology from Iowa State University. She married John Hamilton Watkins in 1931 and moved to New Haven, Connecticut where she lived until 1958 when she moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Watkins died in 1975.
