Whitman, Sarah, 1763-1803
Variant namesSarah Wyman Whitman, artist and civic volunteer, studied art in Boston under William Morris Hunt. Her stained glass, book cover designs, and paintings were exhibited widely in Massachusetts and New York. She was active in guiding the development of Radcliffe College, served on the council of the Museum of Fine Arts School, Boston, and was president of the Woman's Auxiliary of the Massachusetts Civil Service Reform Association.
