The Office of Physical Planning is one of several administrative units which together comprise Princeton University's Department of Faciltiies. In June 1876, the Grounds and Buildings Committee of the Trustees was established to oversee the development of new structures on the Princeton campus. Previously, individual Trustees or employees of the University had overseen construction and physical planning. The Office of Physical Planning provides long-range planning support, including land use, zoning considerations and regional developments; coordinates and participates in architectural developments; manages construction of major new structures and alterations to existing structures; oversees interior design and furniture planning. Other services supervised by the Office of Physical Planning include graphics and landscape design.
