Rudnick was born on May 8, 1917 in New York City; BA (1938), MA (1940), and Ph. D (1944) UCLA; researcher, Duke Univ., 1942-45; asst. prof. of physics, Pennsylvania State Univ., 1945-48; asst. and assoc. professor (1948-58), then professor of physics, UCLA; won Biennial Award (1948), Silver Medal (1975), and Gold Medal (1982), Acoustical Society of America; his research interests encompassed ultrasonics, high intensity acoustics, cavitation, elastic wave damping in metals, low temperature physics, quantum liquids, and non-linear physics; Rudnick retired in 1987; he died on Aug. 22, 1997 in LA.
