Neenan, William B. (William Braunger), 1929-2014
William B. Neenan was born in 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa. Neenan began his Jesuit education in Florissant, Missouri and was ordained in 1961 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1966, Neenan graduated with a PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan. He joined their Department of Economics as a faculty member in 1967, teaching there until 1979, when he left to become the first Gasson Professor at Boston College in Massachusetts. Neenan became dean of Boston College’s College of Arts and Sciences in 1980. In 1987, he took on the roles of academic vice president and dean of faculties. From 1998, Neenan served as vice president and special assistant to the president of Boston College.
Neenan served as a trustee for a number of schools and universities, including Loyola University of Chicago, Fordham University, and Boston College High School. He also served as the director of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities from 1988 to 1994. Neenan died on June 25, 2014 in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
