Winifred Gordon was born in Neb. on September 11, 1890 and graduated from the State Normal School, Greeley, Colo. (1910) and also earned a BA from Colorado State Teacher's College (1922). She worked as a Home Economics teacher in Denver for 40 years. She restored what would later become known as the Gordon House in Central City, Colo. Gordon was also active in buying, restoring, and selling property in the town; helped develop the chorus of the Central City Opera; and gave Colo. history talks while dressed in period costumes of the era. She was married to William Gordon, and died in Denver, Colo. in February 1975.
