Hugh Maxwell was a United States (U.S.) colonial soldier and officer in the Continental Army. He settled in Masssachusetts and was at Fort William Henry during the French and Indian War. He volunteered in the United States Continental Army in 1775 and was wounded at Bunker Hill. He later served at Saratoga, Monmouth, White Plains and Valley Forge. He was at Governor's Island during the Long Island campaign.
