State Street Investment Corporation
The Vonnegut Hardware Co. was started in Indianapolis in 1852 and stayed in family hands until 1965 when it was sold to the Schlage Lock Company. The original hardware company stockholders put their money into the new Von Investment Company, and in 1966 it merged with the well-established State Street Investment Corporation of Boston.
