Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway Company.
Incorporated in 1891, the company built a 55-mile main line from Waneta to Troop Junction and leased 6 miles of trackage from the Canadian Pacific. It received a land grant to help finance construction and it platted the townsites of Rossland, Ymir, Erie, Hall, and Quartz Creek. GN acquired most of the company's capital stock and, in 1944, merged the properties into the GN system.
