Jon A. Bowman was a Texas registered architect (1950)and Texas registered professional engineer (1951). He began teaching in the Scool of Architecture at the University of Texas in 1955 and continued part and full-time until he became a full professor in 1977. Professor Bowman retired from teaching in 1989. Mr Bowman attended the Georgia School of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia 1940-42. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, World War II, 1942-45. He received a B.S in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas in 1949 and a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas in 1962. He worked for Giesecke, Kuehne & Brooks 1947-51 and began his own consulting and architectural practice in 1952. From 1959-60 he served as a consultant to Governor Price Daniel and the State Architectural Advisory Committee on the projected land needs for future growth of the State Capitol Complex. He served as President of the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects 1966-67.
