H.E. (Harry Everett) Barnard (1874-1946), a chemist, moved to Indianapolis from N.H. in 1905. He was an inspector for the Indiana State Board of Health and later the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Barnard became director of the American Chemical Society and was a founding member of the Indiana section of the organization. Marion Harvie Barnard (1875-ca. 1969) arrived in the United States from England in the 1890s. He graduated from Brown University (R.I.) in 1901, after which she married H.E. Barnard. She was treasurer of the Indiana Equal Suffrage Association and a member of the Woman's Franchise League of Indiana. Her children were Harvie Everett (b. 1903) and Marion Elizabeth (b. 1908). Alice Harvie Duden (1873-1926) attended Philadelphia Dental College (later Temple University School of Dentistry) and practiced dentistry in Concord, N.H., and Indianapolis, Ind. She also taught at the Indiana Dental College. She was married to Hans Duden, a chemist at Kingan and Company (meat packers).
