E. Clinton Towl (b. Oct. 26, 1905, Brooklyn, N.Y.-d. Jan. 25, 1990), aerospace company executive, was president and Chairman of the Board of Grumman Aerospace from 1969 to 1990. He was one of six people who founded the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation in 1929 in a garage in Baldwin, Long Island, N.Y. Except for a few years on Wall Street with W. E. Burnett Company, he Towl spent his entire career with Grumman, where his positions included bookkeeper and designer of truck bodies and chassis.
