MacKay, Donald (1845-1892: piper)
Each of the four volumes of bagpipe music was compiled by a prominent piper. Donald MacKay ( 1845-1892 ) was Piper to the Prince of Wales 1874-1892. Charles Simpson Thomason ( 1833-1911 ) was Major General of the Royal Engineers. John MacDougall Gillies ( 1854-1925 ) was a piper and the manager of the bagpipe firm of Peter Henderson, Glasgow, Scotland. Ewen Henderson ( fl.1850 ) was Pipe Major of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards.
