Lee, B. C.
East Alabama Male College, operated by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in Auburn, Alabama, opened in 1859. It became a land-grant college, the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama, in 1872. Its name changed to Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1899 and to Auburn University in 1960.
