Presbyterian missionary, nurse, educator; born August 17, 1901; attended the Christian & Missionary Alliance's Missionary Training Institute (1923-1925), Englewood Hospital in New Jersey, becoming a registered nurse (1932) and Wheaton College (1934); married Howard Thomas, 1934; worked for Wheaton College president, J. Oliver Buswell; received additional degrees from Cornell University in Education; worked in leper colony management and training in southwestern China, 1937-1941, 1946-1947; taught at Cornell University Montreat College in Swannanoa, North Carolina.
