The Association of Mexican-American Students was organized in 1970 by students at The University of Texas at Arlington. The purpose of the organization is to unite Chicanos socially and to establish relations between Mexican-Americans at UTA and in communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The group was also active in the Raza Unida Party and supported Ramsey Muniz for Governor of Texas in 1972 and 1974.
