John Knight Waters (b. Dec. 20, 1906, Baltimore, Md.-d. Jan. 9, 1989), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1931. He served with the 1st Armored Regiment in Ireland in 1942 and 1943 and was taken prisoner by the Nazis in Tunisia in 1943. He returned to duty in 1946 and served as commandant at the U.S. Military Academy for several years before assignment as chief of staff, U.S. I Corps in Korea. He later served with the 4th Armored Division; with the American Military Assistance Staff in Yugoslavia; the Continental Army Command; and V Corps. He commanded of the U.S. Army, Pacific from 1964 to 1966, prior to his retirement in 1966.
