Samuel Houston, his son Samuel Rutherford Houston, and his grandson Rutherford Rowland Houston were Presbyterian ministers in Virginia.
Samuel Rutherford Houston worked as a teacher at the Deaf, Dumb and Blind Institute in Philadelphia, 1825-1831, and served as a missionary to Turkey and Greece for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, 1834-1841.
