These companies produced rope, cordage and textile good including the Birkmyre waterproof cloth that had been patented by the company.
J Lomax & Sons (Bolton) Ltd, Bolton, England, was established in 1849 and taken over as a wholly owned subsidiary in 1945 by Gourock Ropeworks Co Ltd. The company produced tents, covers, mill bags, sunblinds and newsbags. The plant was still operational in 1954 and it is unknown as to when the company ceased trading.
Edward MacBean & Co Ltd, waterproof clothing manufacturers, Port Dundas, Glasgow, Scotland also produced goods for the Gourock Ropeworks Co Ltd.
