Armstrong, Frank C., 1872-1936.

Hide Profile

Frank Armstrong worked as a salesman, traveling field representative, and New York branch manager for the Electric Vehicle Company during the company's most ambitious and unsuccessful attempt to establish a monopoly in the automobile industry and in the market for taxicab service in major American cities. The company was headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut. During Armstrong's tenure with the company, the Electric Vehicle Company sold both gasoline and electric-powered Columbia automobiles and the Riker line of heavier trucks and delivery wagons. Armstrong was also involved in a private venture with Charles I. Scott and Theodore Townley, which they named the Ansonia Motor Car Co. The Ansonia Motor Car Co. never produced an automobile, but was involved in other automotive activities such as used vehicle sales. Prior to working for Electric Vehicle Company, Armstrong served in the United States Navy during the Spanish-American War.
