Swensen, Lewis, 1864-1935
Lewis Swensen (1864-1935) was a Mormon school teacher and farmer in Utah.
Lewis Swensen was born on March 14, 1864 in Moroni, Utah to Laurits Svendsen and Annie Elizabeth Christensen. On December 4, 1884 he married Ada Mellissa Story (1867-1891) in Logan, Utah, they had two children. After Ada's death, Swensen married Mary Sophia Jensen (1876-1944), and they had eleven children together.
Swensen lived in Provo and Salt Lake County, where he worked as a school teacher and farmer. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Swensen was also called to serve a mission to the Southern States in 1897. He served until 1899, part of this time acting as president of the North Carolina Conference. He died on September 22, 1935 in Taylorsville, Utah, and was buried in Moroni.
