William Edgar Shedd (b. Feb. 25, 1885, Danville, Ill.-d. Dec. 2, 1953), Major General in the U.S. Army, was commissioned in the Coast Artillery Corps from West Point in 1907. Early in his career he served as an instructor at the Academy, in Hawaii, and on the staff of the chief of artillery in the American Expeditionary Force from 1917 to 1919. During the World War II, he served as deputy commander of the Panama Department and commanding general of the Antilles Department and the 9th Service Command. He retired in August 1946.
