Elizabeth Cullen Young was born in Milngavie in 1907, her father John was a grocer. She entered Glasgow University in 1924 and was living in Greenock by that that time. In her first year of study she took Latin and French, and in her second she took English, Botany and Moral Philosophy, for which she gained a certificate of merit. The following year she took English and French to higher ordinary level along with Political Economy. She graduated on 1 July 1927 with an MA in Education. She continued to study Education as a postgraduate 1927-1928. According to the General Council Register in 1930 she was a teacher and living in Greenock. On 21 October 1933 she married John Anderson BSc, a rubber technologist, and moved to Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. She died c1979.
