Van Dam, Rip, approximately 1660-1749
Variant namesAs president of the Council of New York, Van Dam became acting chief executive of the colony on the death of Gov. John Montgomerie in 1731. Despite the appointment of a new governor the following year, Van Dam continued to claim the office until 1736.
