Family of John and Ann Lawrence of Flushing, New York; Quaker descendents of early colonial settlers of Long Island. The Lawrence's had several children, including their sons John B., Edward, and Effingham Lawrence; and their daughters Jane Livesay, Catharine Lawrence, Hannah Schieffelin, Mary Embree, and Anna Buckley. The Lawrence's were merchants, with branches of the family settled in New York City and several members involved in the pharmacy business.
