The Division of Parks was established in the Dept. of Conservation in 1931. It was renamed the Division of Parks and Recreation in 1941. In 1953 that unit was superseded by the Bureau of Recreation in the Division of Forests and Parks, Dept. of Natural Resources (Dept. of Environmental Management since 1975).
