Wisconsin. Legislative Assembly

When the Wisconsin Territory was organized by the U.S. Congress in 1836, the act provided for a Legislative Assembly that consisted of two houses: a House of Representatives with 26 members and a Council that consisted of 13 members. The Assembly was succeeded by the Wisconsin Legislature (see WIHV85-A362) when Wisconsin achieved statehood in 1848.
