Firestone family.

Hide Profile

Harvey Samuel Firestone was the founder of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, one of the first global makers of automobile tires. Sales to Ford Motor Company in the early 1900s helped put the company at the top of the U.S. tire business. Firestone was president of his company until retirement in 1932, when his son, Harvey Samuel Firestone Jr. replaced him. Firestone Jr. also served as president of the Firestone Foundation, a charitable organization focusing on educational, cultural, and social programs and the arts. He married Elizabeth Parke Firestone, who became known for her extraordinary collection of couture clothing.
