The Pittsburgh Renaissance Project (The Stanton Belfour Oral History Collection) was initiated and carried out by the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs in 1971-1973 with funds from the Buhl Foundation. The purpose of the collection, as outlined in the funding proposal, was the "...creating [of] a new research source a living record of the Pittsburgh Renaissance obtained from the oral reminiscences of Pittsburghers' own lives and activities which would supplement documentary files and provide for the qualitative enrichment of the written record."
