Abigail Garner, author and activist, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1975. Garner’s parents divorced when Garner was five after her father came out as a gay man. Garner’s book, Families Like Mine: Children of Gay Parents Tell It Like It Is (2004) focuses on the diverse experiences of children growing up in gay, lesbian and transgendered families. Garner has been active as a board member in gay youth organizations and P- FLAG, and has written news columns on gay and lesbian families and culture. Garner received a BA from Wellesley College and an MA in Public Administration from Hamline University.
