Rogers, John C., -1895
Variant namesBorn in Henderson, KY, on February 26, 1882, Husband Edwards Kimmel was a 1904 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Appointed to command the Pacific Fleet in 1941, he was in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, with most of the fleet, when the Japanese attacked on December 7, 1941. Kimmel was relieved of his post after the attack and was found guilty of "dereliction of duty." He was retired. Later (1946) a Congressional Investigating Committee reported that he had committed "errors of judgment" not "dereliction of duty."
