New England Granite Works
Connecticut businessman, James Goodwin Batterson, owned granite quarries in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire; in 1876 he acquired George Ledward & Company, Westerly, R.I., and operated under the company name New England Granite Works; supplied granite monuments nationwide, including Civil War memorials.
